SD Microbes is a family-owned and operated business located in San Diego County, Ramona California. We are dedicated to revolutionizing the way you approach gardening and composting. Established in 2018, we began our journey with our flagship product, BierKashi Bokashi. An upcycled Beer Grain based Bokashi. The overwhelming success and positive feedback from our customers naturally led us to expand into the realms of vermicomposting and soil production.
Our Story
Our story began with a simple yet powerful idea: to create sustainable, plant-based products that would not only enhance the health of gardens but also contribute positively to the environment. BierKashi Bokashi was our first venture, a unique composting solution that quickly gained popularity for its effectiveness and eco-friendliness. Encouraged by this success, we ventured into producing high-quality BioVast Vermicompost and then our BioVast water-only potting soil, further establishing our reputation for premium quality products.

- BioVast Vermicompost:
Produced through the natural process of vermiculture, our vermicompost is rich in nutrients and beneficial microorganisms, providing a superior boost to your soil. BioVast Vermicompost is a Certified Organic plant based, vegan, manure free vermicompost aged for a minimum 1 year or more.
- BioVast Water-Only Potting Soil:
A premium water only blend designed with the help of "Crop Doc" Bill McKibben (lead agronomist at Logan Labs) to support healthy plant growth without the need for additional fertilizers or amendments. Perfect for gardeners seeking simplicity and effectiveness to grow nutrient dense foods and medicines.
Environmental Impact
We believe in giving back to the Earth. Through our vermicomposting operations, we work with farmers to regenerate land, enhancing soil health and promoting sustainable farming practices. Additionally, for every order placed, we plant a tree. Since starting our tree-planting initiative, we have planted over 5,350 trees, saved over 418,000 pounds of grains from the landfill, and sequestered over 794,970 pounds of CO2 from the atmosphere.
